Oral Appliances
By utilizing 3D printing technology, we fabricate oral appliances directly in the office. These devices are used to manage clenching and grinding, treat TMJ disorders and sleep apnea, and help open patients' airways.
What to expect with oral appliances
1.Patient Assessment
The process begins with a comprehensive examination of the patient’s oral and overall health. This includes reviewing their medical history and specific issues, such as clenching, grinding, TMJ disorders, or sleep apnea.
2. Dental Impressions
Using advanced 3D scanning technology, digital impressions of the patient's teeth and bite are taken. This ensures high accuracy and eliminates the need for traditional molds, which can be uncomfortable.
3. Design & Customization
The digital scans are used to design a custom oral appliance. Specialized Artificial Intelligence Software helps in tailoring the appliance to the unique contours of the patient’s mouth, ensuring a comfortable fit and effective treatment.
4. 3D Printing
The customized design is then sent to a 3D printer. Using biocompatible materials, the printer fabricates the oral appliance layer by layer. This technology allows for intricate details and precise fabrication, which are crucial for the appliance's effectiveness.
5. Post-Processing
Once printed, the oral appliance undergoes post-processing steps, including cleaning, polishing, and any necessary adjustments. This ensures the appliance is smooth and comfortable for the patient to wear.
6. Fitting & Adjustment
The finished appliance is fitted in the patient’s mouth. The dentist checks for proper alignment, comfort, and effectiveness. Any minor adjustments are made to ensure an optimal fit.
7. Patient Instruction
The patient is instructed on how to use, clean, and maintain the oral appliance. Proper care is essential to prolong the life of the appliance and ensure it remains effective.
8. Follow Up
Regular follow-up appointments are scheduled to monitor the appliance's effectiveness and make any necessary adjustments. This ensures the appliance continues to meet the patient's needs over time.
